These courses are held at our training centre in Melksham,
Wiltshire
, England. We can also arrange
courses at your offices
in United States which would probably be much more convenient and
lower cost for you.
Update - with our continuing growth, most private training has been moved to where we have 2 newly refitted training rooms available. That's in addition to all the facilities previously offered. The new venue is less than 1km up the road from the previous location.
The training centre
is set in an Edwardian building in 3/4 of an acre of ground in a quiet area
close to the town centre of Melksham. It has recently been totally refitted.
Our main
training room is fitted with a screen projector, whiteboards, and plenty
of desk space for each student -- you have room for your books AND your
equipment!
There's tea and coffee, and cold drinks, always "on tap"
in the lounge. You'll also find an impressive collection of books
in the library,
shelved from floor to ceiling, including a strong technical section
which includes the latest books on the subjects we teach.
Lunch
may be taken in the dining room, or outside in the garden if the
weather's nice. Occasionally we visit a local eating establishment
instead. The tutor joins you for lunch, and conversation may carry
on being "technical" if you wish, or may become more social.
You can find our course administrator in our own offices,
just a short way from the training room. If you need to send a
fax, make a phone call, or get a copy of something, Lisa will be happy
to assist you.
We have interior pictures and equipment pictures available if you want to see
more.
Although we limit the class size on public courses (where each
delegate may have a differnt background and come from a different company)
to 8 delegates, we CAN accept more on your private course. There's
desk space, seating and computers for up to 15 delegates at Well House
Manor - please talk your requirement through with us and we can advise you
of the optimum split if you have a large group.
This course is taught in English.
For private courses, you can choose your own hours. We
would normally start at 09:00 days and run formally until 17:00
Access is available around the clock to trainees who are staying,
and from 07:30 to early evening for day delegates. This allows you to
check your email, work on practicals, etc. A staff member -- usually
the tutor -- will be available during the shoulder hours.
Course content on private courses is tailored to meet the
needs of the student(s) being trained. We'll discuss your exact
requirement with you, starting when you make your initial enquiry,
and provide a course and training notes covering modules which
are relevant to you.
All trainees are provided with a full set of course notes
which cover the topics on their course. These notes are written
with future use in mind and include everything you'd expect in
a book, such as full explanations,
complete program examples and full lists of
contents and indexes. Where relevant, we provide quick
reference mouse mats as well.
Every trainee has exclusive use of one of our laptop computers
for the duration of the course. The laptop is connected to our in
house network, upon which it has full access to large amounts of
reference material, and (as appropriate) other facilities.
Most laptop computers can run (trainee's choice) either
Linux or MicroSoft Windows as its operating system, and has a full set
of tools installed under both. We also have Mac OS X machines available.
For programming courses, a selection
of editors is available. It's probable that there will be a familiar
editor to hand, but if not, we do have an easy "point and click" editor.
Unix (Solaris) and Apple Macintosh systems are also available on our network and
will be used for demonstration and portability testing where appropriate.
We normally train using the latest stable version of the subject
software. Where there are significant changes from a still-common previous
version, we'll have that previous version available on our network, and
we're likely to have upcoming alpha and beta releases to hand as well.
Each laptop has full high speed (50 Megabit) internet access, and we
have wireless networking, Category 5 and telephone ports available if you would
like to connect in your own computer.
Messages for trainees can be left with our administrator (Lisa)
on 01144 1225 708225, and will usually be passed to the trainee during the next
break. Please ask Lisa to interrupt the class only if it's an
emergency.
Please advise us at least three days before
the course is due to start if you have any special dietary requirements.
We have flat access to both of the training rooms at Well House Manor,
and we have refitted the ground floor bathroom to be as spacious as
practical. If one of your trainees requires wheelchair or special access,
please let us know and we'll advise on how suitable the accommodation is.
We haven't failed to provide yet!
.
We're situated about 10 miles off the M4 motorway, between
Swindon and Bristol. A detailed map is sent with your booking
confirmation. There's plenty of free parking.
If you arrive in Melksham by train course, let us know ahead of time and we can offer
you a complimentary
lift from the station. And at the end of the course we'll ensure that
you're happily on your way. The bus to Bath (route x72) stops right
outside our training centre, and we can arrange for a taxi to collect you
from Bristol (or other) airports, for which you pay the driver direct.

Note 2 Our training centre is spaciously laid out for up to twelve trainees, but we do not exceed eight number on a public course. If we're

You may cancel your private course booking more than two weeks before the
course is due to start at a charge of 10% of the course fee. If we receive a cancellation
less than 14 days before the course is due to start, we make a
charge of 25% of the course fee. If you don't contact us
prior to the day the course is due to start, we'll charge you
50% of the course fees.
If unforeseen circumstances arise that mean you need to postpone or
cancel, please do let us know as soon as you can. Although a postponement
is technically a cancellation and a rebooking, we'll do our
best to accommodate your change. We value your company's business,
and we may waive cancellation fees if the original booking
was made in good faith.
You may vary the number of trainees that you wish to attend a private
course up to three working days before the course is due to start,
