For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Domain Renewal Group

In the post ... several letters from the Domain Renewal Group stating that they are Domain Name Expiration Notices. They look similar - remarkably similar - to previous solicitations from Domain Registry of America and Domain Listing Center.

My view is that these are intentionally misleading documents. They tell you that your domain will be expiring in the next few months (which will be true) but fail to tell you that your existing service provider will - almost inevitably automatically renew it for you and at a tiny fraction of the price that the Domain Renewal Group ask you to pay them. And I rather suspect that most of you would wish to stay with your existing provider, and would certainly NOT choose to switch to another provider who's methods - though legal - could be regarded as immoral.

See Google Groups discussion, a blog by Mark Mapstone which includes an image of the letter.

It's times like these that I'm reminded what a wide variety of sites we look after - the notices were for Carlisle High School, class of '73 and for the First Great Western Coffee Shop
