For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))

Cascading Style Sheets and formatting your web page The most basic way of setting attributes like boldness, colour of font, centering, etc, is to use tags diret within the HTML. 994Training on Cascading Style Sheets
There are certain technologies such as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) that I describe as associated technologies - not our bread and butter training business, but never the less subjects that we need to know, quite well and with practical experience too, as part of our work. These technologies get peripheral ...
2223CSS Style Diagrams - working out where attributes come from
I have just been helping a customer who's got a problem with white text on a white background ... and hasn't been able to easily identify where the problem lies. Some of his code looks like this: <div id="Layer6"> <div align="center" class="style11 style13"> <div align="left" class="style17"> ...
1677CSS training - Cascading Style Sheets (UK course)
It's Sunday ... and I've been teaching Cascading Style Sheets (or rather "I've been teaching a customer about cascading style sheets") ... one of our delegates for this week's PHP course asked me to spend a few hours going through CSS with him ahead of time. Here's an example ... using the "KISS" approach ...
996Setting your colour theme through PHP
Although we usually think of PHP as a server side language concerned with databases and the driving of applications, it's also of great use in controlling the use's look and feel ... indeed, I've just written a number of examples of how PHP can be used to select a set of colours (themes) for the user. ...
501.css - using PHP to make dynamic style sheets
Did you know that you can use PHP to generate dynamic style sheets? If you look at the accessibility options on our new-look website, you'll find you can change the colour and font size on all the pages, and you can select wide and narrow too. And if you're using an older browser that doesn't fully ...
565Using PHP to output images, XML, Style sheets, etc
PHP is usually used to generate a stream of HTML to be sent to the browser, but if you use the header function within your page you can use it to send any other type you wish. For example, if I include header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); then I can script the production of images. Easy? Yes, but ...
