For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))

3151Disassembling Python and Java - previously compiled code
Most modern languages translate the source code you give into an intermediate byte code prior to it being run, and in can sometimes be useful and instructive to reverse engineer the code to help to understand what's going on within the more arcane elements of the language. Some languages actually provide ...
2452Making executable binaries in Python (or Perl)
In a nutshell, translations of any of the scripting / semi-scripting languages into executables require the libraries that are included with the base distribution to be included with them, so they gain very little indeed in terms of efficiency or footprint; if the language uses dynamic memory allocation, ...
2370C++, Python, and other training - do we use an IDE
A question from my inbox ... "Do you use Visual Studio, or a similar IDE". And worth a full answer, and one to be shared. An IDE or Integrated Development Environment is a piece of software that provides the programmer with tools to manage his / her code, and to help him / her with code authoring ...
2123Using Python with OpenOffice
The Python-UNO bridge can be used to call up pieces of Python code from within OpenOffice. The source code of a "hello world" example can be found at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/PyUNO_bridge, showing you how to start OpenOffice looking for a connection on a TCP/IP port, and then how to ...
316Development Environments
Although most of the software we provide training on is Open Source and thus available for free download, many of the development environments that are offered to aid developers are commercial products for which you'll have to pay money to buy a license. We don't believe that people should come on a ...

What if Python doesn't include a class / method that you would like, but you've got that feeling that "surely someone's done this before"? 1. They probably have 2. They've probably made it an available 'Open Source' 3. It's just a question of you knowing where to look! Where to look ... a) The built ...
