This is now an archive web site. Some is still relevant as at January 2026 but some is purely of historic interest.
Lisa and I (Graham) are now fully retired from IT training. We have made many friends over 30 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Apache, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are out of date, but with upward compatability some examples remain operational and relevant. You are welcome to make use of them "as seen", at your own risk. We now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We remain active, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to do things!
I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here)) |

Why has the mouth not said much for the last week or two? (written 2012-09-14)
Regular readers will have noticed a lack of posts over the last couple of weeks - Lisa and I have been away on what I described ahead of time as a bit of a "busman's holiday" - staying in a different B&B / hotel almost every night, and comparing them and looking for the good and bad, the practical and impractical, and the new business practise and marketing ideas that will take us forward into the future. And the results of this research will be published in due course.
It's interesting to note that - although I've not had the time to write a daily article - we have been able to check emails and remain on line to pretty much our usual level. Seated here, in a country pub, very early on Friday morning (we'll be on the road again a few minutes after 7), I'm online. Emails and answers have gone out .... time for a shower, too early for breakfast, and off we head! (written 2012-09-14, updated 2012-09-22)

This is a page archived from The Horse's Mouth at
http://www.wellho.net/horse/ -
the diary and writings of Graham Ellis.
Every attempt was made to provide current information at the time the
page was written, but things do move forward in our business - new software
releases, price changes, new techniques. So much so, and it's so long ago
that we are retired
